- The PS Route the MET saw an increase in ridership over both April and May during each of the Program Months June - Aug and a steep decline in ridership in the month following the Fare Free Program in September. Drivers noted that "tourist" would often get on the bus and ride so they could "see the town" versus having to drive and sight-see at the same time. This is a departure from our normal ridership that is typically locals.
- The AS Route was not offered in April or May and again saw a steep steep decline in ridership in the month following the Fare Free Program in September. This route also saw a decline from the program month of July to August and is the only route to notice such a significant decline during the program period. We believe this could be attributed to high school age youth retuning to school but did not have the mechanism in place to record the youth numbers earlier in the summer vs August when we saw this decline.
- The DRO Route the MET saw numbers greatly increase in August and continue a higher than normal trend in September. This route is typically the lowest utilized and we believe the increased advertising has made a direct impact. This is the only route that had higher ridership in September than either April or May. September, while ridership was lower than August, was 300% higher than April and 233% higher than May.
