Typically GVT sees a slight slow down in ridership during the summer months. Following national ridership trends, GVT suffered great losses in ridership during the Covid-19 pandemic and began to recover steadily in 2022 and 2023. This can be seen in the ridership numbers submitted. Paratransit took a different pattern than fixed-route due to the fact that many of our paratransit riders participate in day programs, most of which shut down during the peak of the pandemic. This created very low paratransit ridership numbers. But when these programs came back our paratransit ridership returned to near pre-pandemic levels. Fare revenue also declined and has risen steadily, but is not yet back to pre-pandemic levels. Please note that monthly farebox revenue is a poor indicator of annual farebox revenue trends in the GVT system. Many of our passes are bought in bulk by various agencies and distributed over longer periods of time, yet the pass revenues are counted in the month in which they are purchased.
