Two month prior, April and May 2023 show fixed route ridership at 54,748 and 50,621. For our agency, those two months have heavy student ridership which is lacking during the June-August period. It is a better comparison of growth during free fare to look at the 2022 to 2023 numbers which show an average of a 41% increase over 2022.
One month after, September 2023 shows an 8% increase over 2022 which shows that more people are continuing to ride the system after the free fare period.

Riders on our system overall were very please with the 3 months of free rides, we did not receive any stories.
Lessons learned included needing more staff not only drivers but security on the buses and at the transit center due to escalation of passenger incidents. Costs also went up for maintenance and Bio Hazzard clean ups at bus stops, on the buses and at the Transfer center.
