Southern Colorado Community Action Agency participated in the Zero Fare month with the following transit services. SoCoCAA/RRT deviated fixed route serves the Southern Ute Indian tribe, the towns of Ignacio and Bayfield Colorado, as well as the city of Durango Colorado.SoCoCAA/RRT demand response routes, or door to door service serves the same communities as well, with additional services and connections to the La Plata County Airport, Bustang and Bustang Outrider services that connects with Greyhound transit services for national connective services. The demand response route does not include the city of Durango, but we expanded our DAR service that will encompass approximately 80% of the La Plata county area on August 1st 2022. The fixed route services have been averaging approximately 350 riders per month. That number increased to 636 riders during the Zero Fare month which is a 82% increase!! The demand response monthly ridership[ was averaging around 700 and increased to 970 in august making that a 39% increase in ridership. The data is a very good indicator of the success the Zero Fare campaign was and contributed increased ridership to our transit agency. SoCoCAA/RRT provides public transportation opportunities for employment, educational, medical and social opportunities to the communities of the Southern Ute Tribe, Ignacio, Bayfield and Durango. Some of these communities have a dense population of underserved individuals.
