Get Started with CASTA Defensive Driving Instructor Certification:
Become certified to teach the CASTA Defensive Driving Courses by attending a DDTOC Instructor Course or MVDDC Instructor Course. Courses are generally held each year, either at one of CASTA’s conferences or as a regional training upon request and cover the content of the driver course and training techniques for instructing defensive driving to transit professionals and municipal vehicle operators.
In this course you will become certified to train your drivers in CASTA’s two Defensive Driving courses: Defensive Driving for Transit Operators Certification (DDTOC) and Municipal Vehicle Defensive Driving Certification (MVDDC). You’ll learn how to teach the CASTA Defensive Driving course through scenario based instruction, as well as, discussion about specific concerns related to your organization. Additionally, you will learn the topics presented in each course, which include:
- Understanding the consequences of distracted, fatigued and impaired driving
- Recognizing the habits of defensive driving
- Better understanding vehicle technology and safety features
- Identifying personal driving behaviors and risk-taking tendencies
- Improve hazard identification and assessing risks
- Develop a personal plan for making effective driving choices
